Long ago, women commissioned painters to capture their feminine essence; lately, we’ve been enjoying John Emrys.
I never thought I’d ever be able to be relaxed enough to pose naked for a photograph of myself but working with John was such a pleasure.
There is a very important element of trust that has to exist between a photographer and a model. Believe me, after working in this business for over thirty years, there have been people with which I did not have this kind of chemistry.
John's approach is very straightforward and direct without being intimidating. I felt comfortable enough to really concentrate on “the shot” instead of what might look wrong with my body. I left that up to John and I was not disappointed; in fact, just the opposite. I ended up looking better in the shots than I ever dreamt I would.
The fact that I did not feel nervous or awkward for one second, I really believe, has a lot to do with the focus on creating a beautiful image. After all, it isn’t really you; it’s just the body you’re using. As with any outfit you'd be wearing, it looks good one way – but maybe better from another angle.
I found John to be very encouraging and never inappropriate. Of course, a sense of humor helps – especially when you have no clothes on."
